How to Use cPanel Backup Wizard

Backing up of your entire web hosting account is highly recommend and this simple tutorial will help you go with the process.

(Note: The screenshot below is the default X3 theme of cPanel.  Your cPanel theme might be different depending on what your hosting provider is using.)

Logon to your cPanel...

Look for the Backup Wizard icon, then click...

Select Backup...

Select Full Backup...

The next screenshots is about choosing your backup method.

OPTION 1

You can save your backup to the Home Directory and download it later by navigating to your File Manager.

OPTION 2 (Recommended)
Backup your file remotely or save it to another server.  This process is the most recommended way to ensure the safety of your files even your primary server shutdown.

Tip: You have the option of not receiving the backup report via email by choosing the "Do not send email notification of backup completion."  However, receiving this report is more beneficial as you can review the details.  There are instances that you will get the report but the process didn't really complete as expected.  So, I want you to look on the last 5 lines of the backup report (actually just the 1st and 4th).

Example:
-------------
Net::FTP=GLOB(0xc35ba70)<<< 226-File successfully transferred
Net::FTP=GLOB(0xc35ba70)<<< 226 2.117 seconds (measured here), 6.97 Mbytes per second
Net::FTP=GLOB(0xc35ba70)>>> QUIT
Net::FTP=GLOB(0xc35ba70)<<< 221-Goodbye. You uploaded 15110 and downloaded 0 kbytes.
Net::FTP=GLOB(0xc35ba70)<<< 221 Logout.
-------------

The first (1) line, confirms the successful transfer of file to its destination.
The fourth (4) line, is the total uploaded size.  If this is zero (0) it means you didn't backup anything and you might need to repeat the process.

KEEP IN MIND, never rely to your web hosting backup.
It's wise to keep your own copy and secure it somewhere.

Most web hosting company provide the backup service as a courtesy and it has limitation.  So, if your web files and emails are important to you, backup regularly.
